My stories have won the award for Religion Reporting Excellence from the Religion News Association, the Religion Communicators Council Award for Excellence and Wilbur Award, and been named a staff favorite by PRX. My book was a finalist for the IACP's Julia Child First Book Award, and won the Food52's Piglet competition, as well as making best-of lists from USA Today to Saveur. I was a finalist for The Whicker Awards & Sheffield DocFest's Podcast Pitch, and also awarded a Ferris-UC Berkeley Psychedelic Journalism Fellowship.
